Meet William Browning
I'm William Browning, a U.S. Army veteran, and I've been in IT since 1990, when I left the Army. I've loved computers since I was twelve, when I learned BASIC on a Commodore VIC-20, and that curiosity turned into a career.
For my entire career I've worked as an IT contractor and consultant. I've handled technical support, computer and network consulting, large-scale deployments and network migrations for organizations including AT&T, Chevron, Charles Schwab, AIG and 1-800-SOFTWARE, to name a few. From 1996 to 2002 I was also a partner in Computer Solutions, a one-stop Bay Area shop for computer support, sales and consulting, where I worked as network administrator, PC technician and network consultant. Contracting teaches you to learn a new environment fast, earn trust quickly and solve the real problem.
From 2012 to 2018 I taught IT, first at The Stride Center in San Pablo and Oakland (2012–2016), then at NPower in San Mateo, on the College of San Mateo campus, and in San Jose (2016–2018). At The Stride Center I taught CompTIA A+, CompTIA Security+ and Microsoft Server 2012 certification courses and helped develop the curriculum. At NPower I taught IT, ITIL fundamentals, ServiceNow and Apple curriculum to veterans and young adults across the Bay Area. Teaching made me better at something many technicians skip: explaining technology in plain English so people actually understand what's going on and why.
In 2018 I went back to contracting, and in 2020 I founded Browning Technical Solutions here in San Pablo so I could keep doing that work and serve local businesses directly. Today I bring the same standards I worked to at large organizations to small businesses across the East Bay.
Most small businesses don't need a big IT firm. They need someone who knows what they're doing, answers the phone, and explains things in plain English. That's how I work. When you call Browning Technical Solutions, you get me: the same person who designs your network, fixes the problem and remembers your setup the next time.
Alongside my own clients, I do on-site field IT work for national service providers across the Bay Area, so I'm used to arriving prepared and getting the job done.
